Letter: Learn about local elective offices

To the Editor:

Have you ever considered running for elected office? If you are thinking about throwing your hat in the ring, you will need to file between July 1 and 15 to be on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.

There are four seats on the Red Wing School Board, three Red Wing City Council seats (Ward 1, Ward 2 and Wards

3 and 4), Red Wing mayor, and three Goodhue County commissioner seats (Districts 1, 3 and 5).

Maybe you need some help deciding what seat you should run for or if you really want to commit to being an elected official.

The League of Women Voters in cooperation with the School Board, City Council and County Board will present a candidate information session June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Red Wing High School Little Theater.

The session is free and open to the public and is intended for any citizen considering a run for elected office now or in the future.

We look forward to seeing lots of interest from citizens for this important election season.
