Donald Paul Hershey

Donald P. Hershey, age 72, of Buford, GA passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by parents Paul C. and Beulah F. Hershey; his first wife, Sharon L. Hershey, Pepin, WI, his wife of eleven years, Doris Ann Hershey; brother-in-law, Tim VanNote; and puppy dogs, Sadie Mae and Casey. He is survived by son, Colden D. Hershey and his wife, Heather E. Hershey, Tomah, WI; step-daughter, Barbara L. Ellenberger and her husband, Dan Ellenberger; grandchildren, Kelly DeMars and husband, Mitch DeMars; Nick Ellenberger and wife, Andrea Ellenberger, and Logan Hershey; great grandchildren, Autumn, Emerson, and Amelia Ellenberger. Payton, Grayson, and Eleanor DeMars; sister-in-law, Olivia VanNote, Gainesville, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray and Tammy VanNote, Tony and Cheri VanNote and Steve VanNote; niece, Hope A. VanNote, Buford, GA; nephew, Russell Lee VanNote, Champagne, IL; and close friend, Alex Downs, Buford, GA. Mr. Hershey was born January 25, 1945 in Detroit, MI. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and served in Germany during the Cold War with the U.S. Second Armored CAV. Mr. Hershey was a chef, and later drove a commercial seni-truck over the road for over twenty years, and he was retired from Kennesaw Trucking in Kennesaw, GA as a truck driver. He loved the Minnesota Vikings, Nascar Racing, WWE wrestling, great food, reading spy novels, walking his dogs, and chatting with friends. He was loved very much and will be missed. A graveside service was held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors.
