Vernon George Riegelman, 89, of Red Wing, died peacefully at St. Crispin Living Community, Hi-Park Villa, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born on May 17, 1928 to George and Delilah Riegelman in Red Wing. He graduated from Red Wing Central High and married E. Bernardine Yanisch of Herbert, WI on June 3, 1948 in Clayfield, WI. He worked at S. B. Foot Tannery for 43 years. Vernon also sold and repaired screens and windows; working at Wilson Hardware/Ace Hardware. Vern enjoyed camping, traveling, making many trips to Branson, playing cards with friends and telling stories. He and Bernie spent 20+ years at O'Neil Campground in Chippewa Falls, WI. where he became known as the perfect "tour guide". He was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He was a member of Church of St. Joseph and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a past member of the Red Wing Elks BPOE #845.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Bernie of 69 years; five children, Karen Benderman of Garland, TX, Jan (Dave) Petersmeyer of Red Wing, Kevin (Stephanie) Riegelman of Red Wing, Lori (Hal) Littlefield of Forney TX and David (Kristi) Riegelman of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. followed by lunch in Holy Family Hall. Private family burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
