James A. Rapp
James Arthur Rapp, 82, of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Red Wing Health Center, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 7, 1935, in St. Paul to Arthur and Esther (Blehm) Rapp. He graduated from high school in St. Paul and then from the University of Minnesota. On February 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Patricia Powell at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Ham Lake, Andover, Dalbo and Cambridge, Minnesota where they farmed and also owned and operated the Our Own Hardware stores in Cambridge and Soderville. Following retirement he and Pat moved to Arkansas for 10 years before moving back to Minnesota in 2013. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and a past member of the Lions Club in Ham Lake. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.
James is survived by his wife, Pat; three children, Lynn (Arlen) Diercks of Red Wing, Mark (Sara) Rapp of Princeton and Michael (Gwen) Rapp of Cambridge; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Rapp of Medford, Minn., son-in-law, Wayne Dankers of Kalispell, Mont., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Merry Dankers. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Dana Jackson officiating.
