Glenn W. Welty

Glenn William Welty, age 73 of Ellsworth WI, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his residence. Glenn was born Arvin Carl Peper on November 21, 1943 in Red Wing MN to parents Willis and Marie (Peterson) Peper. After his father was killed in action during WWII, Glenn was adopted and raised by Archie and Alice (Krageness) Welty. He would graduate from Ellsworth High School, and enlist in the United States Army, serving abroad in Germany and Vietnam. On February 15, 1969, Glenn would be united in marriage to Jeanette Marie Kildahl. Their union in marriage would be blessed with over 48 years of love and devotion. Glenn had a lifelong affinity for cars. He worked for over 30 years doing assembly and quality control at the Ford Motor Plant in St. Paul before retiring in 2000. Then after retirement, he worked part-time at Quinn Motors detailing cars. If he wasn't working on cars, Glenn enjoyed taking his 1957 Ford Fairlane to all the local car shows. He was also a fan of NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Glenn cherished time spent with family, and had a soft spot in his big heart for all of his grandchildren. Glenn is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette; his children, Rob (Colleen) Bowen, Christine (Jerry) Taylor, Jeff (Michelle) Welty, and Charlotte (Delmer) Wiley; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Lunde, and Norma Steele; brother, John Anderson; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his birth parents; his adoptive parents; and sisters, Inez Hauschildt and Genevieve Johnson. A Celebration of Life for Glenn Welty will be held from 1:00-4:00pm on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Ellsworth American Legion, 139 S. Oak Street in Ellsworth WI.
