Volleyball: Red Wing, Cannon Falls compete in tourney

Red Wing won two matches in pool play, and split two sets with Waterville-Elysian-Morristown to qualify for the Bronze Bracket in Saturday's Cannon Falls Tournament. The Wingers then went 1-1 to finish 11th.

Madisyn Lyons led Red Wing's offense with 35 total kills, with Kate Sonju (16), Abi Deming (15) Elle Thorson (10) and Hannah Rodgers (10) also reaching double-digits. Macy Koester had 64 of the team's 67 assists, and also had 17 digs and four aces.

Lyons had a team-high 51 digs, followed by Frazier (37), Deming (21), Koester, Thorson (12) and Sonju (11). Thorson and Deming each had five blocks, and Lyons had seven aces.

The Bombers went undefeated through three pool matches, then 1-1 in the Gold Bracket to finish fourth.

Shayla Hustad (31), Molly Bowen (25), Kara Loeschke (21), Sara Twedt (18), Makayla Bowen (14) and Olivia Thomley (10) led Cannon Falls in kills, while Tatum Pickar's 93 digs led the team defensively. Riley Meyers finished with 41 digs and six aces, with Pickar adding a team-high 12 aces.

Kara Loeschke (65) and Rachel Huseth (55) were the top two Bombers in assists.
