Joseph T. Jilk, 62

Joseph Thomas Jilk, age 62 of Bay City, WI passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Joe was born on Dec. 28, 1954, in Plum City, Wis., to parents Leon and Beverly (Gense) Jilk. Joe graduated from Plum City High School, and later enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Navy.

Joe was a 36 year employee of the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant. He earned the respect and friendship of many others through his day-to-day work and involvement there over the years. Outside of work, much of Joe's free time revolved around doing what he loved... fishing. Besides fishing, Joe also relished time spent deer hunting, working in his vegetable garden, going to the cabin, and just being with family. He was well loved, and will be missed dearly by family and friends alike.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jeannie Jilk; his children, Scott (Heidi) Weber, Val (Jarrod) Kruger, Jenni (Randy) Neset, Cindy (fianc Jordan DeJong) Jilk, and Dusty (fiance Makayla Johnson) Oftedahl; numerous grandchildren; his siblings, Deb (Dave) Costello, Jim Jilk, Sue (Mike) Steien, and Mary (Randy) Prom; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Beverly Jilk.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at the OConnell-Benedict Funeral Home, 130 N. Grant Street in Ellsworth, WI. A Prayer Service will then be held at 7 p.m., followed by military honors, provided by the Ellsworth American Legion Post.
