Marjorie L. Hadler, 80
Marjorie Luella (Kahle) Hadler, age 80, of Goodhue, Minn., died Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Red Wing, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 7, 1937, in Fulda, Minn., to Fred and Maria (Oberloh) Kahle. After graduating from high school she moved to Red Wing to do her nursing training at St. John's Hospital. Upon completion, she worked at the hospital, where she met Arvin Hadler. On October 18, 1957, she married Arvin Hadler in Fulda. They moved to Arvin's family farm in Belle Creek Twsp., where they lived for 40 years.
Marjorie raised her children, then began working at Flower Valley Apple Orchard, picking apples, and later worked for Goodhue County Public Health, where she met many new and interesting friends. In 1997, they built a house in Goodhue, and were able to transfer ownership of the farm to other family members. Marjorie was a dedicated wife, caring for her husband after his stroke for over 10 years so that he was able to stay at home. She was a member at St. John's Lutheran in Minneola for over 40 years, and St. Peters Lutheran in Goodhue. She was also a member of the Red Wing Collectors Society. Marjorie enjoyed going to auctions and refinishing furniture and antiques. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially in her garden. One of the most important things to her was the close relationship she has kept with her daughters throughout their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Arvin of Goodhue; daughters, Becky (Robert Phernetton) Hadler-Phernetton of Old Frontenac, Bonnie (David) Sward of Red Wing, Julie (Tim) Thermos of Goodhue, Shari Emich of Madison Lake; grandchildren, Laura, Elia (Kyle Poncelet), and Lija Phernetton, Regina Sward, Jamie, Kailee, and Maia Thermos, and Elsie Emich; great-grandchild, Savea Phernetton; brother-in-law, Arthur Myers; sisters-in-law, Verna Betcher and Lyla Hadler.
