Volleyball: Red Wing third at Cotter

The Red Wing volleyball team went 3-2 on Saturday to place third in the Winona Cotter invitational. The Wingers collected wins against Providence Academy (25-11, 25-13), Lanesboro (25-22, 25-13) and Winona Cotter (27-25, 25-23) in the final match while losing earlier in the day to Cotter (18-25, 25-12, 19-17) and Schaeffer Academy (25-21, 16-25, 15-7).

Over the five-game stretch, Madisyn Lyons tallied a team-high 26 kills to go with 32 digs, three blocks and a pace of ace serves. Vanessa Frazier was Red Wing’s leader in digs (38) and ace serves (four), and Abi Deming finished with seven blocks and 23 kills. Macy Koester finished the day with 81 set assists, 21 digs, two ace serves and a pair of blocks.

On Tuesday, Red Wing (4-4) is on the road for a Big Nine Conference tilt with Rochester John Marshall.
