Arts festival takes to Lake City's streets

Lake City's annual Washington Street Arts Festival will be Sunday, May 28.

A special treat this year will be live music performances by Lincoln High School student musicians.

Educator and performer Eric Stashek is this year's music coordinator, collaborating with the musicians for a day of outstanding street music.

Mitchel Medvec is this year's featured performer. Medvec will perform acoustic pop on voice and guitar 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-5 p.m.

The performance program for the day is:

• 9-10 a.m. Ellie Lindow

• 10-11 a.m. Ari Carlson and Anna Walker

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mitchel Medvec

• 1-2 p.m. Nate Martin

• 2-3 p.m. Ari Carlson and Anna Walker

• 3-5 p.m. Mitchel Medvec

Local businesses helping to sponsor students include Big Bear Pizzeria, Dairy Queen, Port 104, Rustic, The Scoop, and Treats and Treasures. Performers will also be accepting gratuities from those attending.

The artists participating in this year's festival include a potter, metal pieces, oil painter and a photographer to name a few. Artists wanting information can still contact Kathy Jo Rodester at kjrodester@yahoo.com.

The Washington Street Arts Festival is produced by a committee of Lake City Area Arts, a nonprofit whose mission is to support and promote art in the region. The Lake City Tourism Bureau has provided advertising support for the event. This year's committee members are Kathy Jo Rodester, Eric Stashek, Julie Fjetland, Larry Foster and Jil Garry.
