Letter: Community support needed for graduation celebration
For more than 30 years, the Red Wing High School Graduation Party Committee has continued the tradition of providing a safe, fun and unforgettable graduation night celebration. This tradition has evolved into a party with over 80 percent attendance by the graduating class and is eagerly anticipated by the seniors as a night to spend with their classmates making memories, enjoying each other's company, playing games and possibly being the lucky winners of prizes such as iPods, futons, flat-screen TVs, luggage, small appliances, gift certificates, savings bonds or cash.
None of this would be possible without the generosity and help of many local businesses, parents, alumni and community members. Contributors have helped us accomplish this each year by donating cash, prizes, time, talent and food.
The planning for our 33rd Red Wing High School Graduation Party is underway. This year's "Great Get-Together" themed, state fair-style party will be held at Prairie Island Arena, which increases our seniors' accessibility to the party after the graduation ceremony at Red Wing High School. Your help is needed to make Friday, June 2, a success.
Although money is raised through tickets that each attending senior purchases, cash donations are necessary to purchase prizes, decorations and refreshments. Success depends on our generous community.
People may mail contributions to Red Wing High School Graduation Party, Box 255, Red Wing, MN 55066 or give online at www.gowingers.com/page/show/3144277-senior-grad-party.
The graduates and committee thank you for making this a safe and memorable experience for the class of 2017.
