‘Party’ brunch planned
The River Valley Christian Women’s Connection will hold its “Welcome to the Party” brunch at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 11 in the St. James Hotel’s Laurentine Room.
Peggy Hill of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, will present “A Different Kind of Party.” She also will provide the special feature, jewelry, with the theme “The Fine LIne between a Hobby and Mental Illiness.”

WELCA marks spring
Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Cannon River Conference will hold its spring gathering Saturday April 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The theme is “Bloom Where We’re Planted.” Offering will go to campus ministries, HOPE Coalition and a water project in Tanzania.
The event costs $12. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. The program at 9 a.m. will feature a Holden service. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Dixieland worship set at First Lutheran
The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band returns to First Lutheran Church this weekend, continuing the Easter celebration. Worship begins at 9:30 a.m.
The band’s favorites include rousing hymns and spirituals including “When the Saints Come Marching In.”
Bonhoeffer group meets
The Bonhoeffer Society of Red Wing, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday April 9 at First Covenant Church. Open to anyone, the group discusses his life and writings.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was one of the first Germans to recognize and resist Adolph Hitler’s capacity for evil. The Nazis hanged Bonhoeffer just before the end of World War II.
Spaghetti to be served
First Lutheran Church’s property team will serve a spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday April 9. The menu includes garlic toast, salad and dessert bars.
A free-will offering will be go toward new carpeting in the fellowship hall.
Bradley, Fleming to address Deanery
The South East Deanery Council of Catholic Women and the CCW of St. Columbkill Parish will hold a spring meeting Thursday April 14, starting at 8:30 a.m. with registration and refreshments and a 9 a.m. business meeting,
The theme is “Women Reaching Out.” Debi Bradley, chaplain at St. Crispin Living Community, and Mandy Fleming, First Choice Clinic, will speak. A Rosary is set for 11:15 a.m. followed by Mass. Installation of officers and lunch will round out the day.

The Deanery will collect baby items for the First Choice Clinic. In addition, people Haiti Mission, empty pill bottles (all labels removed), sheets, pillow cases and tote bags.
Directions to the St. Columbkill are: On Highway 52, either north or south take the County Road 9 (Goodhue exit) going to County Road 47 and turn to the left, the church is about 1 1/2 miles on Road 47.
