Sunday Supper is this weekend

The Community Meal/Sunday Supper will be served at 5 p.m. Sunday Oct. 25 at First United Methodist Church. Church of St. Joseph Church members will serve.

The free meal is open to all.

Interfaith group helps others

Faith in Action in Red Wing is an interfaith volunteer program serving seniors and those in distressed circumstances. The organization’s goal is to help individuals in the community remain independent.

All services are provided by caring volunteers, with no charge to the recipient. Services include local transportation, out-of-town transportation for medical purposes, friendly visiting, library books, respite care and caregiver support group.

Faith in Action seeks drivers

Faith in Action is looking for volunteers to drive individuals to various appointments. If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, call 651-327-2400. The office is located at 1407 W. Fourth St.

Appalachia project runs until Nov. 6

The Appalachia Christmas Project is under way at St. Piux V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. People may bring items through Nov. 6.

Desirable items include toothbrushes, floss, soaps, combs and brushes, socks, hair binders, belts, bracelets, watches, stuffed animals, cars, games, jump ropes, dolls, beads, blocks, yo-yos, Slinkies, small baby toys/teethers, coloring books and basic art/school supplies

In addition, hard candy or gum, decks of cards, fishing lures, small flashlights, little notebooks, Bibles, rosaries and prayer cards are needed.

Library books can be delivered

In cooperation with the Red Wing Public Library, Faith in Action volunteers are matched with individuals unable to get to the library. The volunteers will pick out books, deliver to an individual and then return them through the Book House Call program. Timing is arranged with the receivers and the volunteers. Temporary respite care available

Faith in Action volunteers will provide short-term relief for a caregiver. They do not provide care services, but a caring presence to relieve the caregiver to attend a support group, shop, or enjoy a personal activity.
