Presbyterians hold Rally Sunday doubleheader
First Presbyterian Church will hold a weekend doubleheader of Rally Sunday weekend events.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, people may enjoy popcorn and movie treats while watching the 1951 movie “Angels in the Outfield.”
On Sunday morning, the church welcomes everyone to Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. with worship at 10:30. Then people can enjoy a ballpark lunch, play carnival games and have a mission project Grand Slam: packing hygiene kits for Church World Service, rallying walkers and supporters for the CROP walk, donating rice to the United Nations Food Program by playing freerice.com, signing up for a rice-only dinner, and collecting food donations for the Red Wing Area Food Shelf.
Rally in Central Park
The Tri-Lutheran Rally Wednesday will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 16 in Central Park. Bring a lawn chair and join First, St. Paul’s and United congregations.
Rev up or work out
Two programs resume next week at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Caffeine Exchange will start at 3 p.m. Sept. 14 in the youth room. Relaxation Pilates gets underway at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Fellowship Hall.
St. John’s and West Florence kick off year
Sept. 13 is “Kick-off Sunday” at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac and Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence. Family Bible class will begin at Immanuel at 8 a.m., followed by worship at 9 and Sunday school at 10. At St. John’s, Sunday school starts at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30. Sunday school teachers will be installed.
This is also picture day. Depending on the weather, a picture will be taken of both congregations gathered outside of their buildings. Pictures will also be taken of teachers, organists, church councils, ladies aids, etc. In case of inclement weather, the outdoor congregational group pictures will be taken Sept. 20.
Month’s first Community Meal is Sunday
The first Community Meal/Sunday Supper of the month will be served at 5 p.m. Sunday Sept. 13 at First United Methodist Church.
Members of United Lutheran Church will serve the meal, which is free and open to all.
Ceili Orchestra to play for worship outdoors
St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Wing, will hold a special outdoor service at 10 a.m. Sept. 20 in Central Park.
Joey Schumann and the Lutheran Ceili Orchestra will provide Celtic music on authentic instruments.
Old Swedish Church holds chicken dinner
Old Swedish Methodist Church will hold its annual chicken dinner 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday Sept. 20. The church is located on Couny Road CC and West 70th Avenue one mile north of Lund, Wisconsin.
