Highway 52 construction, bridge projects begin May 1, travel delays possible
ROCHESTER — Highway 52 motorists will encounter a series of construction projects between Rochester and Rosemount this season that could cause traffic delays, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Several projects have started, but two more are scheduled to begin May 1:
• Road resurfacing in the northbound lanes north of Rochester to south of Cannon Falls.
• Bridge replacements over the Little Cannon River at Cannon Falls.
Highway 52 will remain open during the duration of the projects, but lane closures will occur as the construction work progresses. Temporary ramp closures will occur during the resurfacing project as the paving crews move past a highway ramp.
MnDOT has established a website to find all of the projects on Highway 52 this summer. Motorists can get details or sign up for email updates at: www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy52corridor/index.html.
The resurfacing work on Highway 52 will require lane closures with the work scheduled to begin north of Rochester May 1. Traffic delays could occur during commuting times and on weekends during the project, which will conclude mid-August.
The bridge replacements at Cannon Falls are between the interchanges for Goodhue County Road 24 and Highway 19. Traffic delays are also likely in this work zone during high-traffic periods, such as weekends.
