Highway 52 lane closures begin Monday for Zumbrota Highway 58 bridge project
Motorists on Highway 52 will encounter lane closures starting Monday, April 10, as work to replace the Highway 58 bridge in Zumbrota begins, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The highway will be restricted to single-lane traffic in the right lane in each direction.
In addition to the new Highway 58 bridge, the project will improve connections for pedestrians and bicyclists across the bridge, traffic flow off of Highway 52 and the length of the uphill acceleration lane onto southbound Highway 52.
On April 15 and 16, weather permitting, workers will temporarily close Highway 58 near the Highway 52 interchange to install a sanitary sewer connection. Highway 52 motorists seeking to use Highway 58 will need to detour at the Highway 60 west exit and follow Jefferson Road to connect to Highway 58. Motorists on Highway 58 traveling to Highway 52 will also use Jefferson during this time. Northbound motorists seeking to access the west side of the Highway 58 interchange will be able to exit Highway 52 and cross the bridge to the west side.
Additional ramp closures and detours are planned during the project. The new bridge is expected to be opened to traffic in the fall.
