Who is your favorite president and why?

In honor of Presidents Day, Red Wing citizens take a moment to answer a simple question. "Who is your favorite president and why?"

Jim Morrison, social studies teacher at the Red Wing High School

Teddy Roosevelt, 26th president, 1901-1909.

"He is prominent political figure that believed in war enough to resign and go fight."

Major Kris Johnson, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office.

Thomas Jefferson, third president from 1801-1809.

"He was instrumental in the creation of the Declaration of Independence and had a strong vision of America."

Teddy Roosevelt, 26th president, 1901-1909.

I am originally from Frederick, Wis., and was always intrigued by a small cabin he frequented there in the woods called Seven Pines. The place is a well-kept gem.

He was a tragic figure who was totally underrated and very intriguing.

"He was incredibly intelligent, well spoken and very involved in relief. I could listen to him speak for hours."

Elaine Hoisington, veterinary technician

John F. Kennedy, 35th president, 1961-1963.

"He contributed to the liberation of minorities and started the President Physical Fitness test, which I won when I was in sixth grade."
