Kittelson drops out of congressional race

Following a similar announcement this week by Dr. Mary Lawrence, Roger Kittelson of Goodhue said Wednesday he would no longer seek the DFL endorsement for Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district, leaving Angie Craig of Eagan, Minnesota, the leading DFL hopeful to replace U.S. Rep. John Kline.

“I have strong political concerns regarding fair international trade deals and single payer health plans for Minnesota and the USA. I believe our future Congresswoman Angie Craig will protect our seniors, workers, farmers and small business owners,” Kittelson said in a statement.

Kline, a Republican, announced last fall he would not seek re-election in 2016. The district covers the south Metro and southeastern Minnesota, including Goodhue, Dakota and Wabasha counties.
