Human Rights Commission considers changing name of Columbus Day

The Red Wing Human Rights Commission and Red Wing City Council will have a workshop today to discuss whether to change the name of Columbus Day to First Peoples' Day citing "the explorer Christopher Columbus did not 'discover' or ever arrive in North America, let alone what is now the state of Minnesota or the City of Red Wing," as one reason for the name change from the proposed resolution.

The Red Wing City Council and Human Rights Commission joint workshop will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Red Wing Public Library Foot Room.
