Port, City Council talk economic development
The Red Wing Port Authority and City Council discussed options for economic development in the city during a joint workshop Monday. Issues included the organizational structure of the Port Authority, holding land for economic development and the Port's debt.
As the council dives into the budget process as early as next month, Port President Tom Brown asked members to consider options to work with the Port financially. The group also discussed the potential for sharing staff or other collaboration to increase efficiency.
Another joint workshop will be scheduled for later this summer, Council President Ralph Rauterkus said, and staff from both entities will continue to meet in the meantime.
