Sunnyside, High School see major summer repairs

In the gym at Sunnyside Elementary School, a locker room is being converted into a special education room. The Sunnyside Elementary School parking lot is under construction to look similar to what Twin Bluff Middle School has. Buildings, Grounds and Technology Director Kevin Johnson said the previous parking lot was too congested, with not enough parking spaces. In both schools, new secured entrances are being established. As part of the 2016 referendum for the Red Wing School District, major repairs have been underway at the high school, Sunnyside and Colvill.

Kraus-Anderson Construction is in charge of the repairs and upgrades to the school district, with secured entrances, replacing boiler systems, and HVAC repairs happening throughout the summer.

The construction is expected to be completed before the beginning of the school year.

Red Wing High School

Crews at RWHS are working on heat line coupling, duct insulation, HVAC mechanical system and installing a new building control system. Three areas will receive new secured entrances, including one to replace the old Community Education entrance.

Several areas in the high school are getting new carpet, as well.

Sunnyside Elementary School

The school parking lot is under construction that will make it similar to the parking lot at Twin Bluff Middle School.

Bathrooms also received a new, more colorful update.
