Sunnyside, High School see major summer repairs
As part of the 2016 referendum for the Red Wing School District, major repairs have been underway at the high school, Sunnyside and Colvill.
Kraus-Anderson Construction is in charge of the repairs and upgrades to the school district, with secured entrances, replacing boiler systems, and HVAC repairs happening throughout the summer.
The construction is expected to be completed before the beginning of the school year.
Red Wing High School
Crews at RWHS are working on heat line coupling, duct insulation, HVAC mechanical system and installing a new building control system. Three areas will receive new secured entrances, including one to replace the old Community Education entrance.
Several areas in the high school are getting new carpet, as well.
Sunnyside Elementary School
A locker room is being converted into a special education room in the Sunnyside Elementary School gym. The space wasn't being utilized as a locker room, so converting it into a special education space was beneficial to the school, according to Buildings, Grounds and Technology Director Kevin Johnson. The second locker room will be renovated into a storage space.
The school parking lot is under construction that will make it similar to the parking lot at Twin Bluff Middle School.
Bathrooms also received a new, more colorful update.
