The Red Wing boys’ basketball team received a grand send-off Wednesday March 9, passing by area schools on their way up to the state tournament in the Twin Cities.

Students at Burnside Elementary cheered and waved signs as the high school athletes’ bus passed through the parking lot with a police escort. The entire school had been brought outside minutes earlier for a planned fire drill.

The Wingers take on Simley in a Class 3A quarterfinals game 2 p.m. at Williams Arena. Follow R-E Sports Editor Joe Brown for updates: www.twitter.com/RE_JBrown
