A professor from China's Quzhou College of Technology will be spending the next two months visiting Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical's Red Wing and Winona campuses.

Wan Pei Hui, who teaches English, arrived in Red Wing Aug. 26, the first day of the fall semester at Southeast Tech.

In September 2012, several people from Southeast Tech — including President Jim Johnson — visited Quzhou, which has been a sister city to Red Wing for nearly 20 years. Then, both colleges signed an memorandum of understanding to actively exchange teaching ideas and coordinate faculty and student exchanges.

Wang Pei Hui will stay for the first two weeks at the home of Becky and Brad Alsop, who are both on the college staff and participated in last year's trip to Quzhou. He will visit classrooms and guest lecture, as well as go camping, fishing and canoeing.

"Our colleges have similar missions and programs — nursing, automotive, CNC machining — so having these individuals visiting from China will be an invaluable learning experience for them and for us," vice president of academic affairs Ron Sellnau said.
