Bay City man injured when car strikes tree

A Bay City man was injured Wednesday night when his car struck a tree in the Town of Hartland. 

Michael Marquardt, 56, was southbound on 650th St., when he lost control of his vehicle. The car entered the east ditch and struck a tree, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Herman Kreig in a news release. Marquardt was the lone occupant and had to be extricated from his car. He was transported by Ellsworth Area Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing.

Kreig said the accident happened around 9:30 p.m and Ellsworth Fire was also on scene.

The accident still remains under investigation, Kreig added.
