Wisconsin man sues Wal-Mart over fall
A Spooner, Wis., man is seeking damages from Wal-Mart after he tripped over a cart and injured himself at the Red Wing store.
According to a civil complaint filed Aug. 11 in Goodhue County District Court, Randy L. Hanson's injuries included those to his wrist and elbow. He also sustained injury "in and about his entire body," according to the complaint.
He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000.
The injury occurred Aug. 8, 2008, after an employee allegedly left an "L" cart in an aisle near the checkout counter, the complaint states.
Hanson's attorney, Red Wing-based George Vogel, alleges the cart was placed negligently.
Hanson incurred substantial expenses due to the injury, which he said has affected and will continue to impact his earning capacity.
Attorneys for Wal-Mart denied the allegations.
The case is set for an April 2010 trial.
