UPDATED: Two injured in airplane crash

An airplane headed to New Richmond Regional Airport crashed in the Twin Cities Thursday afternoon, injuring two people.

A small plane crashed near Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, Minn. at around 3 p.m. According to media reports, the airplane landed in a marshy area along the Minnesota River less than a half mile from the airport.

The plane, a twin-engine Beechcraft 95 Travel, apparently lost power after takeoff.

The pilot Alvin Bipes, 56, of Minneapolis, and passenger Timothy Jacobson, 58, were rescued from the crash site and taken to the hospital. They were reported to be in satisfactory condition Thursday night, according to reports.
