A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Goodhue County Roads 9 and 7 in Belle Creek Township Thursday evening killed two passengers after a car failed to stop at a stop sign.

Jessica Braun, 34, Rochester, was travelling southbound on County Road 7 just before 8 p.m. when she drove through a stop sign and struck a vehicle heading eastbound on County Road 9 driven by Linda O’Connor, 58, Goodhue, according to Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

Both cars left the roadway and Blanka Burt, 50, Utica, Minnesota, and Rosa Alvarez, 51, Mexico, who were passengers in Braun’s car, were pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Braun and Celia Alvarez, 82, Utica, Minnesota, were transported by ambulance to Saint Marys in Rochester, authorities said.

O’Connor and Kathleen Gadient, 81, rural Goodhue, had possible injuries but were not transported from the scene, according to Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Goodhue First Responders, Goodhue Fire Department, Zumbrota Ambulance and Red Wing Ambulance. Mayo One responded but did not transport anyone from the scene.
