BELVIDERE — The driver of a snowmobile involved in an accident with a truck in Belvidere Township Friday morning has died.

Delbert Hardy, 57, was operating a snowmobile on his property at 25465 County 3 Blvd. and was entering the roadway when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on County 3, according to Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

Hardy, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, officials said.

The pickup, with a plow attached to the front, was driven by Duane Stemman, 66, rural Red Wing. He was not injured.

Rain turned to snow throughout the night Thursday, which continued to fall Friday morning. The freshly fallen snow created treacherous travel conditions resulting in numerous accidents throughout the county as well as late start times and closures for area schools.
