Maiden Rock woman airlifted following Saturday crash

Authorities say a Maiden Rock woman may have suffered a medical issue while driving mid-afternoon Saturday, causing her car to leave a town of Union road and come to rest in a hay field.

Shanna Vogel, 44, was airlifted from Ellsworth to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., with undetermined injuries, according to a Pierce County sheriff's deputy Jean Spletstoser.

Vogel was driving northbound on 210th Street when her car missed a 90-degree curve, left the roadway on the north side of 250th Avenue traveled through a corn field before coming to rest in a nearby hay field.

The sheriff's department was advised of the accident at 3:32 p.m.

Vogel was transported by ambulance to Ellsworth where EMT's transferred her to a waiting medical helicopter.

Assisting deputies were members of the Maiden Rock-Plum City fire and ambulance departments and a paramedic from the Ellsworth Area Ambulance Service.
