Goodhue County Public Works will start the work for centerline culvert replacement along with vertical grade adjustments on County Road 1 from Highway to County Board 9. The project is set to begin next week, Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Work will commence with the following anticipated construction schedule:
Phase 1 — Perform reclamation of the existing surface at all pipe and grading locations for entire project.
Phase 2 — Perform tree removal and chipping operation and install perimeter erosion control.
Phase 3 — Complete work on culvert installs from County 30 to County Road 9 including grading sections.
Phase 4 — Complete work on culvert installs from Highway 60 to County Road 30 including grading sections.
Initial work in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be done under traffic with flaggers. When culvert work begins in Phase 3, a detour will be put in place with an anticipated start date for the first week in October. The detour will be clearly marked during the extent of the project and will change as work shifts to the south portion from Highway 60 to County Road 30.
The roadway will be open to traffic this winter with many sections of gravel for winter suspension with caution advised. Reconditioning work on County Road 1 is anticipated to be completed spring 2018. New pavement will be completed under a separate contract in 2018.
