Street closure to re-chlorinate water lines

Although most road construction will be shut down for Labor Day, there are still highway work zones in place around the state, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to use extra caution while driving this weekend. (file photo)

East Fourth Street in Red Wing closed Sept. 7 between Bluff and Sanderson streets for crews to re-chlorinate the water lines, according to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation.

The road is expected to be closed for one to two weeks as testing occurs. Motorists may use alternate routes during this time. Crews have been doing work in this area as part of the Red Wing Bridge project. The Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge will remain open to traffic during construction, barring any emergency closures.
