Traffic on Highway 61/Main Street through Red Wing will switch Thursday from the southbound lanes to the newly constructed outside lanes. In case of inclement weather, the switch will be delayed to Friday.
The switch will place on both northbound and southbound 61 on the correct sides and within the outside lane of each side only. This reconfiguration is required to close the inside lanes and
allow for the completion of the remaining concrete center left turn lane and raised median at Potter Street, city and Minnesota Department of Transportation officials said. This configuration for traffic on the outside lanes is estimated to remain for a week.
Left-turn access will be restricted to and from northbound Main Street at Potter Street. Vehicles needing to access Potter Street from northbound Main Street can use Plum and West Third Streets.
