Red Wing Area Seniors briefs

The Red Wing Senior Center is located in the Professional Building and Community Center, 1407 W. Fourth St. All events listed are held at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Phone number is 651-267-3599.

Workout through Active Older Adults

Get fit and stay healthy. Join in at the Senior Center at 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The class includes low-impact aerobics, strength training and stretching. Cost is $30 for 20 sessions for non-YMCA members.

Do you need something typed?

A letter? Family story? Experienced typists are willing to volunteer their services, if you give a donation to the Senior Center for the finished work. Simply bring in your hand-written correspondence. In a few days you can pick your typed work.

Red Wing Train Club

Visit the Gandy Dancers any Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center. You will see two layouts: "O" gauge and "HO" gauge. Train enthusiasts of every age are invited. The gentlemen are always happy to answer questions about train remodeling.

Seniors Helping Seniors

Seniors Helping Seniors peer support volunteers are skilled and committed to helping other seniors who are experiencing distress in their lives. If you need someone to talk to or you know someone who does, please contact Robin Wipperling at 651-385-3456.

Trips, Travels and Tours - First Train Trip

Take your grandkids on a train ride. The trip is set for Tuesday June 18, departing from the Red Wing Depot at 9 a.m. for the Winona area. Cost is $55 for children, $65 for adults and includes train fare, lunch, snacks and admissions. Call the center to be added to the waiting list.

Cards and games

The following games will be played:Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge - 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Chess - 1 p.m. Thursdays

Medical equipment available

Gently used medical equipment is available at the Senior Center to use for up to three months during a period of medical convalescence or short-term disability. Items include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, commodes and more. If you need something, visit or call the center. A $20 donation is requested to help with the ongoing program costs.
