More than 65 artists. More than 40 sites. Needless to say, there are places to go and things to see for art lovers around the region.

Next weekend you can find three road-trip-worthy happenings scattered throughout a good chunk of land.

The events include the Red Wing Area Tour -- Studio Ramble; Crossings' annual Artists Clearing House indoor art fair; and the annual Bluff Country Studio Art Tour.

Since moving from the fall to the springtime last year, Red Wing's Studio Ramble has benefited in more ways than one.

"We have seen an increase in guests and even more enthusiasm amongst the Red Wing area artists. All of the artists have new work this year so we encourage locals to stop on by and see what your area artists are creating," David Husom said.

Many artists open their studios only for these tours -- and you may see them demonstrating their craft.

"There is such an amazing array of artists in this area that many who live here are just not aware of," Mary Singer said. "Every year brings more visitors from our own neighbors."

Take a look below for more information about each unique art-filled opportunity.

Studio Ramble

The annual Red Wing area studio tour and art sale allows you to experience art, music - even chocolate and wine making. The tour is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28 throughout Red Wing, Hager City and Lake City.

"Opening our studios to the public these last 12 years is a great testament to the growing number of artists in the Red Wing area and their dedication to building a strong arts community for all Red Wing citizens and visitors," Art Kenyon said.

The ramble is organized by site. Sites 1 to 4 are at the Anderson Center and include painter Ardee Rosasco; pianist Neal Topliff; silk fabric master Peg Simonson; potter and sculptor Ted Flourine; and drawer, painter and printmaker Art Kenyon.

Well-known watercolor artist Dan Wiemer opens his studio on Spring Creek Road -- site 5 -- and welcomes guest jeweler Amy Palmer.

At site 6, on West Fourth Street, you can find painter Guy Williams. Black-and-white photographer Chap Achen welcomes art-lovers to his studio -- site 7 -- on Summit Avenue.

The Red Wing Arts Association on Levee Street is site 8. Maggie Paynter an artist working in oil, acrylic and watercolor can be found on East Seventh Street - site 9.

Three generations of artists can be found at site 10 on Sevastopol Road and includes jeweler Pam Musser, nature artist Doris Gardas, and painter Brooke Herling.

Head to Lake City for site 11 and see the illustrations and paintings of husband/wife duo Dave Matheny and Jean Sherlock on South Oak Street.

Watercolor and horse portrait artist Susan Weigenant can be found at site 12 in Hager City on County Road VV.

Also in Hager City is site 13 and the Husom & Rose Photographics Studio with digital artist Ann-Marie Rose, photographer David Husom and their guest artist William Pringle Rodman, a documentary photographer. They can be found on 162nd Avenue.

"I think the appeal of the tour is to see how and where people create. Everyone has a unique studio to create in and I think the personality and the process of the artist is evident in their workspace," Wiemer said. "Viewing where the creative process happens gives you a better understanding and connection with the artist and to the finished piece. Because of these connections it is a win-win for art appreciators and artists alike."
