Army Reserve Pvt. Isaac J. Nelson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Nelson is a 2012 graduate of Kenyon-Wanamingo High School.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Brent L. Raths, is assigned to with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, Gulfport, Miss.
Raths along with other Seabees from NMCB 133 begun construction along with the Tajikistan Ministry of Defense's construction force, on the first phase of a $1 million project at Shamsi Base, Bahrain.
The first-ever SeaBee mission in Tajikistan has been assigned to NMCB 133 and is a global peace operation initiative in support of the Office of Military Cooperation.
The first phase is scheduled to be completed in early 2013 and includes building of a new roof, an English language lab classroom, renovation to kitchen and electrical distribution repairs.
Raths joined the Navy in July 2006 and is a 2006 graduate of Lincoln High School, Lake City.
