UPDATE: Missing man found in Red Wing
The search for a missing Red Wing man ended successfully Monday afternoon.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Jason Eric Garlitch emerged from the woods along Industrial Park Road.
A search party spent most of the day combing woods and swampland for the 34-year-old, who went missing Sunday evening. Garlitch walked out of the woods accompanied by members of the Civilian Air Patrol and other searchers.
Garlitch, clad in torn pants and a sweat-covered shirt, hugged family members before being taken away in an ambulance.
His father, Roger Garlitch, said the family was relieved that Jason was found alive.
"It's wonderful," he said. "God's really blessed us."
Authorities received a distress call around 7 p.m. Sunday from Jason's girlfriend, who said he had left their Red Wing residence depressed and upset. He was reportedly headed to the Industrial Park area, where he ultimately was located.
The extensive effort included city police, K-9 units and firefighters, Goodhue County deputies, sheriff's department mounted posse and Emergency Management Office, Minnesota Correctional Facility-Red Wing staff and the Civil Air Patrol. Incident leaders said 64 searchers entered the area this morning.
