Police ticket eight for minor consumption
Eight people under 21 were cited for underage drinking on July 2 and a ninth person for possession of drug paraphernalia. Red Wing police ticketed four in one incident and five in another.
Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Highway 58 and Bush Street at 2:35 a.m. and found that several people in the car had been drinking.
A 15-year-old Red Wing girl, a 17-year-old Lake City male, a 17-year-old Red Wing male and Terence Pettis, Lake City, all were ticketed for underage consumption. In addition, the Red Wing male was cited for possession of alcoholic beverages.
At 10:21 p.m. officers responded to a fireworks complaint at Spring Creek Road/Highway 53 and Cottonwood Avenue and found a group of people who had been consuming alcohol.
Citations for underage consumption were issued to Stephanie Cernohous of Welch, Levi Blomstrom of 419 Hill St., a 17-year-old Red Wing female, and Eric Pearson of 2118 Pioneer Road. Pearson also was cited for possession of alcohol. In addition, a 17-year-old Red Wing female was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police also seized some controlled substances. The matter is being referred to the County Attorney's Office for possible charges involving one of the individuals.
