Oak Center General Store plans final winter concert events

The winter concert season at Oak Center General Store will close out soon with plenty of noise and celebration.

Two more lively concerts are scheduled this weekend, and then the season finale will take place May 2. Switchback is booked for 8 p.m. Saturday; and Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday

Switchback, a duo made up of musicians who come from diverse musical backgrounds, performs an eclectic mix of blues, oldies and country tunes.

"By combining the styles of their former bands, they've developed a sound that incorporates some of the greatest hits of the 1950s, '60s and '70s, along with the other styles.

Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart are a folk-Americana duo. Singers and songwriters, they entertain world audiences "with heartfelt lyrics, wonderful harmonies and crafty guitar workouts," Oak Center spokesmen said. They "reach out and grab songs of the past, then fast-forward to the present and into the future."

The last show of the season, featuring Greg Brown on May 2, is sold out.

Tickets to Oak Center events are $15, or $5 for low income. The store is on Highway 63 east of Lake City. For reservations or details, call (507) 753-2080.
