Townhomes with land are featured in Prescott project

Great Rivers Land Development has broken ground on Prescott's newest housing development.

Located one mile south of Prescott on Highway 35, the nearly 200-acre development will feature townhomes and single-family homes.

Co-owner Lynn Most said the first phase will be 17 detached townhomes that come with some acreage. Most said the average size will be about a third of an acre.

Interior features are a three-car garage with above storage, three bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, handicap accessibility, custom maple cabinets, whirlpool tub and gas fireplace.

Exterior features include screened porches, irrigation system with landscaping, steel siding and association benefits that include snow removal and lawn care.

Overall, the townhomes will have about 1,800 feet of living space along with four floor plans and multiple color schemes.

Most said the location for Great Rivers will offer a wide-open country feeling, yet at the same time be close enough to the Twin Cities to commute.

Builders on the project, Kariesch-Voss Construction, have kept things local.

"Ninety percent of our subcontractors are in-town businesses," said Jerry Voss, co-owner of the construction company. "We feel it's important to put the dollars back into our local economy.

"The other 10 percent is as close to local as we could get."
