Bring animals to be blessed Christ Episcopal Church will hold Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 6. The service will be on the front lawn.

All are welcome to bring pets, service animals and working animals. Join the service even if you don't have an animal to be blessed.

Ojile will address Deanery Council The autumn meeting of the South East Deanery Council of Catholic Women will be Thursday Oct. 10 at the Holy Trinity Parish of Goodhue.

Mike Ojile will be talk about “Rites Within the Catholic Church.” He was in America but has many relatives living in Lebanon.

The schedule for the day is: 8:30 a.m. registration and coffee, 9 a.m. meeting, 10 a.m. speech, 11:15 a.m. Rosary, 11:30 Mass, followed by luncheon.

English Lutheran Church Youth House The Youth House, part of English Lutheran Church, will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 11 before the Ellsworth High School home football game. Pizza will be served. There is no charge.

River Valley, Stonecroft event planned “Celebrate the Past, Embrace the Future” will be 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the St. James Hotel’s Summit Room.

Speaker will be Frank Kemp of Burnsville, Minn., and music will be provided by Marilee Anderson of Hastings. The event also will feature a special presentation of Stonecroft Ministries’ 75 years of ministry and River Valley’s 40 years of ministry.

Cost is $15 per person or $25 for a couple. Reservations must be made and tickets purchased by Oct. 9. Contact Dorothy Crane at 651-385-0265.

Vasa serves roast beef this month Vasa Lutheran Church will serve a free roast beef dinner Oct. 9. Dinners are the second Wednesday serving from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. through May.

Family Movie Night First United Methodist Church will host a family movie night with games and a movie in Central Park on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. The movie shown will be "Dolphin Tale." If weather is inclement, all activities will be inside the church.

Sunday supper will be served Sunday Supper/Loaves and Fishes is a full meal prepared and served free of charge and open to everyone. It will be served at 5 p.m. Sundays Oct. 13, 20, and 27 at First United Methodist Church, 403 East Ave.

Sleep Out for Hope Sleep Out for Hope will run through the night Saturday Oct. 12 at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. The event for grades 6-12 will raise awareness of poverty, homelessness and injustice.

Youths from throughout Ellsworth will conduct service projects during the day and return to the church for supper, games and worship. They also will gather pledges for local charities before spending the night in cardboard boxes in the parking lot.
