Christenson plays for Advent meditation
The second Advent Organ Meditation of the season will be 12:15 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 9 at First Presbyterian Church. The organist will be Paul Christenson, retired Lutheran pastor and a well-known organist in Red Wing. A soup and dessert, free-will lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Vasa Lutheran offers community dinner
A Community Meal will be served on Wednesday Dec. 9 at Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Road. Serving of Swedish meatballs and more will begin at 5:30 p.m.
There is no charge. The meal is open to all.

Pastor Eix leads First Covenant Church
During December, First Covenant Church welcomes its new pastor, the Rev. Marc Eix, and his family to Red Wing. He comes from Manistee, Michigan, a city on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan, where he served for 13 years. Prior to his time in Manistee, he was associate pastor for youth at North Park Covenant in Chicago for nine years.

Table will be set twice
The Community Meal/Sunday Supper will be served on two Sundays in December at First United Methodist Church. Suppers will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 and 20.
There is no charge. The meal is open to all.

Brunch planned at St. James Hotel
The River Valley Christian Women’s Connection will hold its “Jewels of Joy ” brunch at 10:30 a.m. Monday Dec. 14 in the St. James Hotel’s Laurentine Room.
Pam Magawa of Bemidji, Minnesota, will present “Facing Fear, Anxiety and Worry.” She has college degrees in counseling and biblical studies. Special feature will be Sally Hjelle and the holiday boutique.

Bonhoeffer group to meet on Dec. 12
The Bonhoeffer Society of Red Wing, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 12 at First Covenant Church. Open to anyone, the group discusses his life and writings.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was one of the first Germans to recognize and resist Adolph Hitler’s capacity for evil. The Nazis hanged Bonhoeffer just before the end of World War II.

Campus outreach group comes to New River
Chi Alpha, a Christian outreach group at Winona State University, will share stories and testimonies at 10 a.m. Sunday at New River Assembly of God Church.
