Create a prayer shawl and share in healing

People who knit or crochet are invited to help make prayer shawls. They are blessed in prayer and made available to those who need healing and encouragement.

Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday May 14 at 1845 Bohmbach Drive; 5:30 p.m. Tuesday May 19 at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth; and 5:30 p.m. Thursday May 21 at First Lutheran Church, Red Wing.

Sunday supper will be served May 10

Community Meal/Sunday Supper is set for 5 p.m. Sunday May 10.

Members of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church will serve the dinner at First United Methodist Church, 403 East Ave. This is a full meal prepared and served free of charge and open to everyone.

This will be the only time the meal is served during May.

Road to Recovery gets people to treatment

Faith in Action offers the Road to Recovery program. This is the only out-of-town transportation service provided by Faith in Action in Red Wing and is for individuals receiving radiation treatments for cancer.

The office coordinates with family, church, and public health in assuring the patient has adequate transportation from Red Wing to treatment at Minneapolis or Rochester.

Faith in Action presents ‘Grumpy Old Men’

Faith in Action will show the film “Grumpy Old Men” Thursday May 14 as a fundraiser and as a celebration for 17 years of serving area residents. Parts of the film were shot locally.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. A brief program and the movie will run from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $20. They are available from board members, Faith in Action coordinators at each local congregation and at the agency office, 1407 W. Fourth St.

Faith in Action’s mission is to enrich residents’ lives through faith-based volunteer efforts.

Vasa serves community meal on Wednesday

Vasa Lutheran Church will serve pork burgers, brats and hot dogs for the free community dinner Wednesday May 13.

The meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Vasa Center.
