Bells of the Bluffs

Bells of the Bluffs, an auditioned handbell ensemble with members from Red Wing and the surrounding area, will hold auditions at 5:15 p.m. Thursday Aug. 7 at First Lutheran Church. The group plays sacred as well as secular music.

The group formed a year ago and members came from Red Wing, Hastings and Prescott. Visit to register or get more information.

Confirmation Sunday

First Lutheran Church will hold confirmation Sunday July 27 this year instead of in the fall. Eighth-graders will share their faith statements at the 9:30 a.m. service.

This also is the final Sunday for Brett Pederson, director of youth & family ministries.

Kid’s Crusade starts July 27

Plans are in full swing for the Annual Kid’s Crusade at Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City. The Crusade will run for four consecutive evenings, Sunday July 27 through Wednesday July 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Adam Schmidgall of Wild Kingdom Ministries will present a new program each evening. All children and their families are invited to this free community event.

Get answers to estate questions

Tabor Lutheran Church in rural Bay City will hold a session on estate planning/elder care law issues at 6 p.m. Sunday July 20.

Jens Loberg of Loberg Law Office is licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. He will be answer questions free of charge. The session is open to the public.

The church is near Brown Seed and located on Pierce County Board D just off Wisconsin Highway 35.

Library books can be delivered

In cooperation with the Red Wing Public Library, Faith in Action volunteers are matched with individuals unable to get to the library. The volunteers will pick-out books, deliver to an individual and then return them through the Book House Call program. Timing is arranged with the receivers and the volunteers. Girls’ Night Out is at St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Wing, will hold Girls’ Night Out at 6:30 p.m. Friday July 25. The evening is open to all preteen girls and older.

Amber Swenson will present “Broken and Ready for His Use.” This will address thoughts such as life isn’t going as planned; my goals haven’t come to fruition; people have hurt me; I’ve lost so much. Why does God allow brokenness?

During the break, socialize and enjoy the decadent chocolate fountain, fresh fruit, veggies and cool drinks.

Nurse available this Sunday

The parish nurse at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, will be available from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday July 20 in the downstairs front entrance. Through this ministry people may have blood pressure and heart rate checks as well as receive health information.
