Immanuel, St. John's have joint VBS, worship

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Frontenac and Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence will hold a joint vacation Bible school Monday through Friday July 14-18 from 66 to 8 p.m. in Frontenac. VBS is open to children age 3 through grade 8. The theme this year is “Dive In.”

The churches are also planning a joint worship service in Frontenac at 10 a.m. Sunday July 20, followed by a picnic. There will be a dunk tank and other water activities for the children.

During Vacation Bible School, Pastor Steve Kurtzahn will also be teaching a class for adults from 6:15 to 7:45pm each evening. The adult class is titled “If God is Love, Why Does He Allow so Much Evil in This World?”

All children and adults from the community are welcome to attend these activities. To register children, call 651-345-2757.

Sunday supper will be served

Sunday Supper/Loaves and Fishes is a full meal prepared and served free of charge and open to everyone. The Masonic Lodge will serve the meal at 5 p.m. Sunday July 13 at First United Methodist Church, 403 East Ave.

Family Night at the Pharm

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold Family Night at the Pharm property from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday July 14. Join parishioners for a campfire, snacks, hiking, worship and fellowship.

Ice cream social

Svea Lutheran Church in Hager City will hold an ice cream social from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday July 16. The event includes pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, homemade pie, strawberry shortcake and ice cream. Antique engines will be on display.

Father ‘Mac’ coming to Lake City

Father Richard McAlear will offer Mass and healing blessings 7 p.m. Wednesday July 16 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake City. Father “Mac,” as he is known, has been offering hope, healing, love and peace since 1976 to tens of thousands of people all around the world.

Community movie night set

First United Methodist Church will sponsor a community movie night in Central Park on Friday July 18, featuring “The Lego Movie.” The film will start at dark with activities for children starting at 8:30 p.m.

A final movie night will be held Friday August 15 featuring “The Croods.”

All are welcome to attend. In case of rain, the movie will be shown inside the church.

Goodhue church offers VBS

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Goodhue will hold vacation Bible school July 28-Aug. 1. The hours will be 9 to 11:30 a.m. The session is opne to all children 3 years old through entering grade 6. St. John’s is located on County Road 4. To register, call Lydia at 651-380-9130.

Widows meet in Lake City

The Widows Speak group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 16 at First Lutheran Church, Lake City. All widows are welcome to join.
