Wednesday offers Lenten services

This year’s ecumenical Lenten worship theme is “Weird, Wild and Wicked Bible Stories.” Services are 5 p.m. Wednesdays.

Following worship, the host church serves a meal that is open to all.

The April 2 service will be at the Church of St. Joseph. Pastor Brian Scott of First Lutheran Church will preach. Loose offering will go to the Community Care Fund.

There also will be a 6:30 p.m. service at United Lutheran Church.

In addition, people may attend the 10 a.m. Wednesday Lenten worship each week at Christ Episcopal Church.

Cannon Falls church has guest speaker

The Rev. Laurie Crelley will be the guest speaker Sunday March 30 at First Congregational Church in Cannon Falls. Worship at 9:30 a.m. or at 5 p.m., when there will be a community table meal.

Deanery council meets April 10

The South East Deanery of the Council of Catholic Women will hold its spring meeting Thursday April 10 at St. Mary’s Parish in Bellechester.

Joanne Nelson from the nonprofit charity Bundles of Love will speak. This group meets and sews, knits or crochets articles for newborn babies of mothers who cannot afford these articles.

The council asks women to bring an item listed the organization’s website, visit or bring baby flannel, light-weight yarn, diapers, baby soap, baby wipes or socks.

Registration and coffee are at 8:30 a.m., with election of officers and a business meeting at 9 a.m. An 11 a.m. Rosary, 11:15 Mass and then lunch round out the day.

Fish fry planned at Seton

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday April 4. The menu includes fried and baked fish, baked potato, vegetarian baked beans and coleslaw. Kids menu includes macaroni and cheese, chips and pickle.

Tickets available at the door. Adults play $12, seniors pay $10 and kids 3 to 10 pay $5.

St. Paul’s new member Sunday

St. Paul’s will be welcoming new members this Sunday March 30 at the 9:30 a.m. service. For more information, contact the church office.
