World Community Day is Nov. 1

Come celebrate World Community Day with Church Women United Nov. 1 at First Presbyterian Church starting at 9:30 a.m. The 2013 World Community Day theme is "Walking Through Doors of Opportunity."

What barriers or road blocks have kept us from moving forward in our Christian ministries and/or our everyday lives? What are the barriers to peace? What are the barriers in our communities? What will bring unity? How can we honor diversity and our unity?

Participants will explore many questions.

Janet Adams, volunteer coordinator for the Goodhue County Adult Detention Center, will be giving a presentation on the volunteer services used at the jail.

Sunday supper will be served

Sunday Supper/Loaves and Fishes is a full meal prepared and served free of charge and open to everyone. It will be served at 5 p.m. Sunday Oct. 27 at First United Methodist Church, 403 East Ave.

Auxiliary to hold Coffee Break

Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing Auxiliary will hold its annual Coffee Break from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday Nov. 7 at First Lutheran Church, 615 W. Fifth St.

Tickets are $4. They are available in advance from auxiliary members and at the medical center gift shop, as well as at the door.

Crafts and a bake sale also are planned.

First Presbyterian holds harvest festival

All are welcome to join in a time of fun and fellowship Sunday Oct. 27 as First Presbyterian holds a harvest festival.

Youth are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to Sunday school at 9:15 a.m., participate in the costume parade during worship at 10:30 a.m. and stay for the festival at 11:30 a.m.

Enjoy homemade chili, cornbread and festival games.

Lutefisk dinner set at Beldenville

Our Saviors Lutheran Church will host its 65th annual lutefisk/meatball dinner Thursday Oct. 31. Serving will start at 2 p.m. For more information, call 715-273-4570. The church is located at N6450 530th, Beldenville.

Hallelujah costume event planned

New River Assembly of God will hold its “Hallelujah Party” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 27. Games are planned.

No scary costumes, please. There will be a prize for the best Bible costume.

There is no charge, but please bring a bag of candy.

Balyeats family to sing

The Balyeats family will give two concerts. Members will sing at 7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 29 at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, at 7 p.m. and Thursday Oct. 31 at Red Wing Seventh day Adventist Church. Meal will follow the Red Wing concert. Offerings will be collected.

Boeding will discuss Revelations

All are welcome at United Lutheran Church’s adult enrichment hour at 9:45 a.m. Sunday Oct. 27. Pastor Justin Boeding will begin a three-part series on the book of Revelations.

Unitarians hold play

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Northfield, Minn., will present “Life Itself,” multi-generational play featuring the Rev. Kristin Maier at 10 .m. Sunday Oct. 27.

Hear what happens to the trees and the humans in the Land of the North as darkness moves in when winter comes and fear creeps among them.
