Red Wing Area Seniors

The Red Wing Senior Center is located in the Professional Building and Community Center, 1407 W. Fourth St. All events listed are held at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Phone number is 651-267-3599.

Book Sale

There will a book sale at the center's current library. Books are 25 cents each.

Brush up your Spanish

30 a.m. Mondays and Fridays. Lavoie House is the leader.

Get active

Get fit and stay healthy. Join in at the Senior Center at 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The Active Older Adults class includes low-impact aerobics, strength training and stretching. Cost $30 for 20 sessions for non-YMCA members.

Needed - handy men and women

The Senior Center is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of remodeling projects at the new building. Email Nancy Swanson at

Support services offered

Several support groups and services are available.

• Eye glass adjustments will be given from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday July 16.

• Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors will be available 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday July 16. Women and men 60 years of age or older, who live in Minnesota and meet income guidelines, may be eligible to receive a monthly food package. • Senior Forum with Dr. Bruce McBeath will meet from 9:15-10 a.m. Thursday July 18.

• Learn about Alzheimer's disease at 1:30 p.m. Thursday July 18. Sara Larson from St. Brigid's at Hi-Park leads the group.

• Parkinson's support group will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday July 18.

• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $34.

Medical equipment available

Gently used medical equipment is available at the Senior Center to use for up to three months during a period of medical convalescence or short-term disability.

Items include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, commodes and more. If you need something, visit or call the center. A $20 donation is requested to help with the ongoing program costs.

Jordan Towers

Jordan Towers are located in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in downtown Red Wing. All events listed are held at Jordan Tower I or II unless otherwise noted.

SEMCAC Senior Dining

SEMCAC Senior dining is located in the Sailstad Room of Jordan Towers 2. The Fifth street doors open from 11 a.m to noon. Suggested donation for a meal is $3.50 if you are over 60, and $6 if you are under 60. Please call 651-388-9875 at least 24-hours in advance if you plan on joining.

St. Brigid's at Hi-Park

• Monthly diabetes support group will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday July 16 in the café at Jordan Towers. The service is offered by St. Brigid's Hi-Park volunteers.

• Alzheimer's support group will meet 6 p.m. Thursday July 18 in the community room.
