Ice cream social will benefit tornado victims

Sundaes on Sunday will be 4 p.m. June 2 in Central Park and raise funds for two families who lost everything in the Oklahoma tornado.

Thrivent will match up to $2,000 and send the money to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. That church identified two families needing assistance: Joey and Donna Wallace have a 6-month-old son, Leum; the Kilpatrick family has two sons, Mason and Logan.

"Both families lost everything. Kyle Kilpatrick was at work while the boys were home with their grandmother. They made it to a storm shelter, but had to be rescued because the house collapsed and had trapped them. Everyone is OK, but it will be a long haul," Pastor Wally Swenson said.

In case of bad weather, Sundaes on Sunday will be in the United Lutheran Church fellowship hall.
