GOODHUE — The room was filled with suspense while 11 candidates waited hand-in-hand to see who would be crowned Miss Goodhue 2017. Anna Kohlnhofer, last year's winner, passed her title on to Madeline Lodermeier.

The royal court also included Emily Benrud, Abigail Doerhoefer, Macey Larson, Autumn Lindblom, Heather Lingbeck, Katelyn Pearson, Morgan Roschen, Makayla Thompson, Mariah Tipcke and Kjersten Veiseth. Thompson was named Miss Congeniality with the two princesses, Benrud and Lindblom.

Contestants were critiqued based on their line dance performance together of "Boot Scootin Boogie." Judges also used a criteria for evaluating each contestant including her introduction bio, poise and answers to onstage questions.

The 2017 Miss Goodhue will participate in a variety of events this summer and throughout the year, including parade appearances and helping with Volksfest this weekend. The festival runs until June 11.

The Volksfest headliner for tonight's show is Diamond Rio along with Emily Ann Roberts and JT & The Gunslingers. Tickets are $25 presale and $35 at the gate.

There will be other events throughout the day, including the road rally, udder run and bean bag tournament. For a full list of events and more information, visit the Goodhue Volksfest Facebook page.
