Flueger stars in new TV cop drama

Red Wing native Patrick Flueger stars as Officer Adam Ruzek, a young undercover patrolman in the NBC drama “Chicago P.D.”

The new series airs at 8 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 8 and comes from Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf and the team behind "Chicago Fire."

The police drama is about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's District 21 who put it all on the line to serve and protect their community. According to, District 21 comprises two distinctly different groups: the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head-to-head with the city's street crimes and the Intelligence Unit that combats the city's major offenses — organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond.

At the helm of the Intelligence Unit is Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), a man not against crossing legal and ethical lines to ensure the safety and security of the city he loves.

Working hand in hand with Voight is Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda).

Rising through the ranks in the Intelligence Unit is Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), a brash young detective who earned his spot on the team with the aid of Antonio's endorsement. Halstead's partner is tough, no-nonsense Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush).

The precinct includes Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas), an experienced undercover detective and confidant for Voight; Ruzek (Flueger), a quick-witted cadet plucked from the police academy to join Olinsky on undercover assignments; Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), a charismatic uniformed patrolman who loves to throw a great party; Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), a uniformed patrolman who strives to one day become a part of the elite Intelligence Unit; and Sheldon Jin (Archie Kao), the neat and meticulous detective in charge of surveillance and tech ops.

"Chicago P.D." is produced by Wolf Films in association with Universal Television.

Flueger and Bush joined the cast in August.

Flueger currently stars in “The Tell-Tale Heart,” an adaptation of the classic Edgar Allen Poe story from director by John La Tier.

He has two independent films in post-production including “Loaded,” directed by Chris Zonnas and “San Patricios,” which is set in South Texas and centers on the relationship between two brothers.

Flueger’s film resume includes “Mother’s Day,” the “Footloose” remake, the Jim Sheridan-directed “Brothers” and the Anthony Hopkins-starrer “The World’s Fastest Indian.” He made his motion picture debut in 2001 in Disney’s “The Princess Diaries.”
